Polverini in Asia: New facades for Burberry
Polverini’s latest projects are for the prestigious Burberry brand, which has undergone a revamping of its image over recent years. Burberry’s presence in Asia is expanding and our team have been busy creating and shipping six facades for Burberry stores in some of the most famous luxury shopping centres in China, Korea and Japan. In April 2021, the stores revealed their new look, following the meticulous restyling work undertaken in March.
In Beijing, there is a new Burberry facade in the SKP Mall, renowned for its innovative environment inspired by the world of technology and the future. The mall has a curvaceous, open-plan design that invites customers to wander through the retail space and admire the work of various artists, with themes that will be constantly updated.
Polverini also created Burberry facades for centres in Korea: Lotte C2, SSG Centum and Times Square and for the luxurious Umeda Hankyu in Osaka, Japan.
What all these Malls have in common is a desire to break with tradition, offering a very different shopping experience, one that gives customers a cultural slant and sensory stimulus too. This modern way of thinking fits well with Burberry’s updated image and with Polverini’s forward-thinking philosophy.
The facades were built at our headquarters in Tuscany and then shipped to the various destinations. Despite the different contexts and locations that they were made for, the construction of these facades used the same methods, processes and materials to create the look desired by the client.
The structures are characterized by “boxes” of milled and painted wooden panels, perforated and galvanized metal sheets in champagne gold or brass, wooden supports with magnets, brass-coloured metal frames, limestone and LED lighting.
It has been very satisfying working on this project, to help create the new-look for this respected luxury brand.
